In recent weeks, the analysis of reported cases of pediatrics and general practitioners in the Banskobystrický region has shown a permanent increase in the rate of acute respiratory diseases (ARO) and influenza and similar diseases (CHPO ). The situation has changed slightly during the last calendar week of 2018. The incidence of both ARO and CHPO decreased significantly in the weekly comparison. In the case of ARO, it is less than one-third and, in the case of CHPO, 67%.

According to the spokeswoman of Maria Bystrici's Regional Office of Public Health (RÚVZ), Maria Tolnay, this is partly related to the climate, but also to the fact that the Christmas holidays and the day of the holiday. are children on vacation and many adults in the economically active population are. "More than 45% of doctors and adolescents and 35% of the first adult contact physicians reported the disease this week," Tolnay said. This relatively small number of physicians, combined with the above factors, can skew the true incidence of AROs and CHPOs.

During the 52nd week, the Banskobystrický RÚVZ, which collects morbidity data for the whole region, recorded an absolute number of 1684 ARO patients, representing a recalculated morbidity of nearly 682 people per 100,000 residents treated by physicians reporting this week. Influenza and similar diseases occurred in 93 cases, which corresponds to a morbidity of nearly 38 people per 100,000 inhabitants given to the reporting physicians this week.

The highest number of ARO patients is in absolute numbers in the districts of Banská Bystrica, Lučenec, Zvolen and Žarnovica. CHPO is mainly present in the districts of Žarnovica, Poltár, Banská Bystrica and Lučenec.
