Sputnik was like a bomb, the scientist recalls.
BRATISLAVA. The National Authority for Aviation and Space (NASA) is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2018. This year will be the 50th anniversary of Apollo missions with human crew.
The Agency recalls some milestones in space exploration
The beginnings of space exploration are marked by races between the Russia and the USA.
Written in 1957, President Dwight Eisenhower has just approved the placement of a scientific satellite on Earth's orbit. And then the Soviets were all surprised when the first Sputnik 1 artificial satellite was launched on October 4, 1957.
"It was like a bomb," recalls Eilene Galloway, who stood up to NASA
