Nokia and Oppo have agreed on long-term cooperation.

Nokia announced today the signing of a multi-year patent license agreement with Chinese smartphone maker Oppo. The company did not specify the details of the deal, which means that the Guangdong-based manufacturer will be relying on the world's largest mobile phone license holder.

Maria Varsellon, president of Nokia Technologies, said that Oppo was one of the leaders in the smartphone industry and that Nokia was happy to welcome the licensee. The agreement between the new partners only confirms Nokia's global licensing program.

With a new cooperation agreement, Chinese producer Oppo will join other industry giants, such as Samsung, Xiaomi and Huawei, to use Nokia's IP for the next five years.
