Panasonic has constantly improved its first full frame CSC device, introduced last year, but which has only recently arrived on the market. Panasonic LUMIX S1 has already come with the S1R version, now comes the S1H version. It will be specially adapted to the most demanding videos. S1H can handle video in 6K resolution at 24 fps.

6K video can be filmed at a ratio of 3: 2 or 4: 3. For 16: 9, the video is at 5.9K, a few hundred pixels shorter, but at 30 fps. But the advantage is that LUMIX S1H will use the entire sensor area for video shooting and there will be no cropping like many other CSCs or SLRs. The dynamic range should again be greater than 14 EV.
Although 6K players do not exist and even the 8K is dismally low, the 6K resolution is of great importance to publishers. The larger the image, the more effective the video. If necessary, the image can also be enlarged to 4K resolution or even 2K (Full HD). At the same time, more pixels in the original image = better resulting picture in 4K or 2K.
The second, more interesting, is that S1H will be able to shoot 4K videos at 60 fps in 10-bit color depth. All have passed the 8-bit colors up to now. The question is whether S1H will be able to shoot in 10-bit color, even in 6K resolution. In addition, the V-Log support of the camera.
Most of the other parameters are borrowed by S1H from his elder LUMIX S1. The full-frame sensor therefore has 24.2 MP, it works with 225 DFD autofocus points and its stabilization is also lacking. The magnesium alloy body is sealed against water and dust.
The price is not yet known. But that says $ 4,000. This is not at all a bit, but no other competitor (usually available) is currently running 6K. 6K can run professional Red models. However, there are still some long months before the fall, where competitors can introduce something similar.
But in July, LUMIX S1 receives an update allowing it to film in 4K resolution with 10: 4 in MOV 4: 2: 2 at 30 fps, or at 60 fps via HDMI, also supporting V-Log with a table 14 EV or LUT. .
