PC Review | Audi e-Tron will have cameras mounted instead of mirrors

The first concepts of the Tesla Model X had a design a few years ago without traditional side mirrors. Instead, they were equipped with a pair of cameras that gave the driver a better view of the traffic behind him, further aerodynamic, thereby lengthening the driving of the electric car. Finally, Tesla abandoned this design.

And now, Audi is trying to go where Tesla stops. In a new video showing the prototype of an e-Tron car, cameras can be seen instead of side mirrors. Their images are transmitted directly to the 7-inch OLED screens, which are comfortably placed above the door handles of the vehicle.

Audi prides itself that the e-Tron will be "the first mass produced vehicle with virtual exterior mirrors". The market will be in place for a few years, but Audi obviously believes that this specific design element will not be scrapped before the start of production. It has many practical advantages in terms of comfort and safety.

Allows the driver to make various adjustments using the touch function. He can choose the desired field of view, zoom in or out. You can choose from three types of display for different situations – when driving on a highway, turning and parking yourself
