PC Review | Rolls-Royce has shown its concept of a hybrid taxi for 5 passengers with a range of up to 800 km

Taxi fare models have already been introduced by several companies, including Airbus and Uber. Rolls-Royce has also joined them recently. The announcement was not published by a luxury car manufacturer in Britain but by its parent company, which bears the same name.

The planned aircraft is of type EVTOL (vertical take-off and landing vertically) and could carry four to five people at a speed of about 400 km / h over a distance of about 800 km. Despite the name, it will not be a pure electric plane. The concept of this EVTOL will be the successful Rolls-Royce M250 gasoline engine

The concept used turbines to produce 500 kW of electric power for six electric motors. This means that with the current design, the aircraft would not need to be recharged because the batteries will be powered by M250 turbines. Admittedly, such a hybrid approach is not the most environmentally friendly

With a wing that can rotate 90 degrees, there will not be much space for landing. The purpose of the company is to adapt the design to personal transport, public transport, logistics and military applications. It assumes that the first of these devices "will reach the sky" by the early 2020s. However, Rolls-Royce has not yet changed the number of customers or partners that would put its taxis into service
