ATHENS – Before the football match between AEK Athens and Ajax Amsterdam, the team was in front of the home team. Fans of the Greek team invited Dutch visitors with plastic bottles and many other items.

Police intervened on site Monday and Tuesday to tackle even more serious incidents when AEK supporters blocked traffic by throwing fireballs at Ajax supporters and the police men. The flame was then lit by one of the supporters directly in the stadium and in the guest area. Some spectators saw bloody scars after the attack. No other serious injuries have been reported yet.
