Police drama The widow counts with great actors, intelligent scenes, but also unexpected overlaps and depths (Review)

Criminal drama widows accompanied by the enthusiastic reactions of the American critics, but personally, the photo Steve McQueen did not belong to my favorite this year. But McQueen has already established himself as an experienced filmmaker. So I was curious or I made no foreign reaction.

The hope of a quality experience was also reinforced by the excellent cast of actors and by the fact that Gillian Flynn, who had written a book then a screenplay for the excellent Criminal Gone Girl or the big Sharp Objects series HBO production.

The four criminals Henry (Liam Neeson), Carlos (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), Florek (Jon Bernthal) and Jimmy (Coburn Goss) are trying to steal a large sum of money, but the plan is ruined and the police will shoot at all men. Their wives then discover that their precious half-payers have a considerable debt to dangerous people. And of course, they want to get their money back.

Veronica (Viola Davis), Henry's wife, then decides to finish what her husband has started and begins planning a grand flight based on his remarks. Other widows include Linda (Michelle Rodriguez) and Alice (Elizabeth Debicki). These women, however, are not aboriginal criminals, and their plan can be mixed like a house of cards every minute.

It's probably the most basic storyboard you know before going to the movies. I recommend avoiding some more detailed descriptions because the movie itself is rich in twists and turns. So I did not get around the hot broth: yes, the widows were successful, and Steve McQueen delivered a snapshot that he would not have missed in the movie.

It is true that the baseline is not revealing and we have seen it (or its variant) several times in the field of waiting movies. McQueen and Flynn are more aware of this and the narrative skeleton they use as the foundation of psychological drama, where they explore issues of grief, racism, sexism or political intrigue. The overall feminist subtext is also significant.

Together, we form a very dynamic mix that will interest you from the big opening scene of the unsuccessful flight. In addition, the film is absolutely perfect and technically it can be very little criticized.

The original camera, the cut and the music of Hans Zimmer are worth the detour. All history, including the characters, is greatly written and Gillian Flynn reaffirms her talent in the field of scriptwriting.

Viola Davis steals most of the film for herself, but Rodriguez and Debicki are not lacking either. He will always be delighted by the great Liam Neeson (albeit in a lesser role), the excellent Colin Farrell as an ambitious politician, the veteran Robert Duvall for his racist father and Daniel Kaluuya in the grateful role of the sadistic gangster .

I must say that I most likely enjoyed the first two-thirds, where the female heroes of the center are dating and planning a robbery, and we are watching the politics of Farrell's character. Although there are no action scenes here, thanks to excellent actors, an intelligent storyline and dialogue, these moments are great and I really appreciated them.

In the last third, the story came too fast. The burglary itself is well done, but I thought it was even easier to scream. I've also enjoyed casual humor (often resulting from the fact that the main heroes do not know how to "walk" on the crime scene, so they must be quickly perfected in shooting or driving).

In short, well, everything is in place and everything works exactly as it is and what the creators wanted. McQueen's photo is smart, dynamic, with no quality dialogue and with great actors. So why not give more than eight points out of ten?

To tell you the truth, I do not know. Maybe because some of the breaks in history have brought me some effect or because of that, or because, despite all the good fortune, I did not think McQueen had really fired me. I also realized that he had chosen several interesting themes, but because of the pictures, he could not do anything at all.

Nevertheless, it is an honest work and a great criminality artificially mixing elements of thriller and psychological drama. I suggest that this could be something to some viewers (as you can see in colleagues). McQueen did not broadcast Danny's eleventh, but a very sad film with tragic heart.

However, I personally enjoyed the widow and decided to advise them on the movies to watch. I am very happy to repeat the photo.
