Anyway, the immortal Mila Jovovich is happily behind us, but that does not mean that Capcom does not want to make movies anymore. Already in May 2017, Capcom had collaborated with director James Wan (Saw, Insidious, Aquaman) for the restart of the film section of this series. The screenwriter should be Greg Russo.
And he just said in the interview to discuss film the writing of a scenario was inspired by Resident Evil 7 and not by more known predecessors: "Of course, I'm a big fan of the show, six movies have been released and when you want to restart the show, you do not want to do it again. For me, it was clear that we wanted to make a horror film to the James Wan, which means that the inspiration of Resident Evil 7 is clear.
This, of course, I do not want to erase past movies. I think they were fine, but I've always considered the Resident Evil series as a horror and we want to follow that path. "
