Review of the Samsung Galaxy A9 2018: more camera, higher price

Earlier this year, he did not seem to need more than two cameras on the back of the phone. Only a few months have passed and the triple rear camera has become an almost common subject. In addition to some flagship products, more affordable models have been marketed with such a set. The first of these devices in the portfolio of Samsung is the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018), which now has three cameras and the price is very interesting. But soon after, Samsung introduced an even higher model of the A-series, even with four cameras. Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) is the first device to offer such an interesting package. However, the numerical designation indicates that it is a higher model, which corresponds to both the equipment and the price.

This is probably a concept that we have not presented as the future of the world's largest manufacturer of smartphones when we discovered the timeless Samsung Galaxy Edge. In 2018, however, that's the case – if you want a new Samsung, but that curved edge of the screen is going through you, the Samsung Galaxay A9 2018 is what's best . The latest flagship product with a classic display was the Samsung Galaxy S7 and since the new premium smartphones in the S series, has always had only the edges of the screen.

However, the more affordable A-series continues to offer a classic screen. This does not mean that the phone is not modern. The 6.3 "screen with a aspect ratio of 18.5: 9 has a minimal frame and, even though it does not have curved edges, it almost touches the metal frame on its sides.

It goes in the back, which is glass. But here we will find a turning point, immediately on all sides. As a result, the phone holds better in the hand, but at the same time, it's a slider – like most current glass and metal phones.

At the same time, the Samsung Galaxy A9 2018 is a pretty big phone. With dimensions of 162.5 x 77 x 7.8 mm and a weight of 183 grams, it is one of the largest "buckets" that has come this year. Nevertheless, the size is still sufficient to allow the phone to be controlled once, even if it is only by a larger male hand.

The arrangement of the controls is in no way special. On the right we find the power button and the double volume button. There is a SIM card slot on the top wall, and on the left is still the Bixby Voice Assistant button. The bottom part hides a standard USB-C connector, a speaker and, thankfully, a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Of course, the most interesting is the back. This also contributes to the attractive lemonade blue color, which now has several shades depending on the angle and intensity of the incident light. Of course, not the most original solution, but still very effective.

Of course, the back is also exceptional for the four-digit camera. The four lenses are placed in a vertical plate underneath. Below them are an LED flash and a fingerprint reader is also located in the center of the back wall.

Overall, we can evaluate the phone from both sides. Literally. The front is rather dull, some may discourage the very large size of the phone. From the back, it's an entirely different song: an attractive color, more lenses than a professional bag, and a sleek design that works more luxuriously than many more expensive devices.

Print scanner: small but accurate

The fingerprint reader on the Samsung Galaxy A9 2018 is located at the back, at the top. The location is very good, it is not a big problem to read the player. This can happen at the size of the scanner itself. He is one of the smallest of us with whom we have recently made contact.

In practice, however, it simply means that you will sometimes have a few millimeters to run your fingers over the back cover until you feel the scanner. After a few days of use, however, you completely forget it and this "movement" becomes completely automatic. When you use it, you can activate a convenient function by moving your finger on the meter in the vertical direction to control the alert bar.

The scanner itself is accurate and fast, and we have no reservations about it. On the contrary, we have a fantastic fingerprint registration system: one finger slides along the reader and your finger is recorded.

This feature has been included in Samsung's flagship product series A and we will certainly be pleased with this solution. For a regular user, it is also not important that the registration of the impression lasts 2 or 30 seconds. However, in writing, we certainly appreciate such a solution. We turn on the phones almost constantly and any help with setting up a new device is definitely welcome.
