"It is unthinkable for us today, in the face of modern threats, to proceed in accordance with the strategic documents approved in 2005," he said. Defense Ministry spokesman Ľubomír Galko (SaS) said at a press conference. At the same time, he announced that the opposition would not surrender and that the two government documents would be submitted to parliament again "perhaps much longer than the coalition leaders think."

MEP Gábor Grendel (OĽaNO) stressed that the strategy had been prepared by experts from the Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs and unanimously approved by the government. "Even the CIS ministers, who block the negotiation of documents in parliament today, will block the coalition until the elections, and we will reach the stage where these new versions will not be up to date" he stressed.

According to Grendel, however, it is hoped that the documents will finally be discussed. "Because the coalition parties make fun, the Smer-SD and the CIS are fundamentally incompatible with the law on the police force", he said. He questioned Galkov 's amendment, which, compared to government documents, facilitates the recruitment process of a new police chief. This proposal has already been forwarded to the Committee of the National Defense and Security Committee with the support of the Chairman of the Hrnko Committee, in addition to the opposition. According to Grendel, following the departure of the committee's journalists, a quarrel between Robert Kaliňák (Smer-SD) and Hrnkom was instigated by the ex-minister.

The Slovak government approved both strategies unanimously in October 2017. The RS defense strategy is a document in the field of state defense. The submission of its proposal to the parliament provides for a law on defense. Once approved, this will be the third defense strategy since the establishment of the independent Slovak Republic. In the 2005 Strategy, the RS, as a member country of NATO and the EU, focuses on the respect of commitments and the effective use of opportunities offered by the EU. membership in these international organizations.

The security strategy is a public document in the field of state security policy. The replacement has a security strategy approved on September 27, 2005. The new document reflects the interdependence of the internal and external dimensions of security and hence the need for a comprehensive approach to security policy. A key element of the document is the continuity of the orientation of the Slovak Republic's security policy in favor of Europe and the Atlantic, based on a broad political consensus.
