The president of the National Bank of Slovakia, Jozef Makúch, ends his term. He announced it today at the Bank Council of the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS). Current Finance Minister Peter Kažimir will replace him. He must first be elected by Parliament and appointed by President Andrew Kiska.

Makúch has held senior positions with the NBS since 1993. He was elected for the first time as governor in 2010 and again in 2015. He will retire early, until February 2019. The governor should hold this position until January 12, 2021. Patril rather to the less important NBS governors.
