The new application uses NFC technology and customers can pay very easily in stores, by mobile phone.
ČSOB SmartPay is changing the mobile phone into a digital wallet. With this application, customers can make contactless NFC payments via a scanned payment card by simply connecting their mobile device to the point of sale terminal. A new payment method is currently available for all CSOB customers with an active MasterCard credit card issued by ČSOB and with a supported mobile device running Android 5.1 and later.
"This type of payment is very fast, simple and convenient, but as safe as a standard card payment.The customer can easily save his credit card directly into the application.Therefore, he can fully utilize his cell phone to make professional payments.The app also allows you to pay for your mobile when the internet connection is not available on their mobile phone.In this way, the customer can make 10 payments, " explains Anna Jamborová, spokesperson for ČSOB.
Customers who do not have a ČSOB Mastercard credit card and want to use this convenient payment method can apply for a supported credit card directly in the ČSOB SmartPay mobile application. The MasterCard Debit payment card can be obtained very easily, without having to go to a branch and for 3 years free for its management.
"In the first few days after the release of the software, more than two thousand of our customers have downloaded and activated it, which we consider extremely positive." The application is currently in the pilot version, but has no impact on the reliability and security of the payments made.The goal is to test the functionality of the application on the largest possible number of mobile devices before generating traffic, which further improves friendliness ", said Jamborová.
How to activate NFC payment?
- After you have downloaded and installed the ČSOB SmartPay application on the official market, the application prompts the customer to register (by entering your last name, first name, phone number, phone number, e-mail address electronic and password).

How to pay a mobile to payment terminals?
NFC payment with CSOB SmartPay is similar to paying with a standard contactless payment card. Customers have two options to make a payment:
- After opening the application, under NFC payment, click Pay, enter mPIN and connect the mobile device to the activated payment terminal. Payment information is displayed on your mobile device.
- By unlocking the mobile device and connecting it to the point-of-sale terminal enabled for payment. The screen of the mobile device then prompts you to enter the mPIN code.
