The singer and opera director Božena Hanáková has passed away

KOSICE. On Monday, November 26, at the age of 88, the personality of the Slovak Opera and Košická, the singer, director and opera director Božena Hanáková died, said State theater spokesman ŠD Košice Svjatoslav Dohovič.

In the basketball theater, Hanáková has been in business since 1954 for more than 50 seasons.

Theater and opera were donated to Hanáková in Vienna, from the family of theater artists.

As a child, she played in the operatic productions of the Slovak National Theater (SND), where her mother worked at the time, the mezzo-soprano Ružena Kustrová.

At the Academy of Performing Arts, she studied singing and dancing at the opera.

"Immediately after school, she joined the Košice State Theater, where she successfully performed many operatic characters – Jolana and Julia in Cigánska láska, Adel to Netopier, Valencia to the widow, Zerlin to Don Giovanni, Musetta to Bohemia, Rosina to Barbier de Sevilla, Olympia in the stories of Hoffmann and many more, "said Dohovič.

Together with his wife, the scenographer Jan Hanák, they later formed a production team that, under the auspices of the Košice Theater, produced several opera and operetta productions.

Already with her daughter, costume designer Danica Hanáková, she directed in 1997 the production of her latest production, Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata, which she performed on the ŠD stage until January. this year.

"She has been faithful to the Košice theater throughout her professional career, but she has successfully performed in Prague, Ostrava, Brno, Miškovci and has also toured the Netherlands and Germany," said Dohovič. .

The ensemble of the opera ŠD Košice presents his monument and reminds him of the performance of the opera Nabucco of Verdi on Wednesday, November 28th.

"The last farewell to Božena Hanáková will take place on Thursday 29 November at 11.00 in the historic building of ŠD Košice," said Dohovič.
