US President Donald Trump thanked North Korean leader Kim Jong-oo on Friday for a promise to repatriate the remains of fallen American soldiers.
They were in North Korea since the end of the 1950-53 Korean War.
Kim promised such a step at Trump's historic meeting in June in Singapore. The US military transported the first 55 trunks to find the remains of Americans fallen from northwestern Wonson, North Korea, to the base of Pyongyetsk in South Korea
After Wednesday's funeral, they will be moved to Hawaii. US Attorney General Jim Mattis hailed the repatriation, saying the move would contribute to a diplomatic "positive tone" on issues such as the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, adding that he was considering Send additional research teams to North Korea.
