United Nations Global Compact: Pellegrini wants to keep Lajčák

BRATISLAVA. The government on Slovak participation in the Marrakech conference will decide on its next meeting.

After the meeting on Wednesday, said Richard Raši (Smer), Slovak Deputy Prime Minister for Investment and Computerization.

He said his attitude to the United Nations Global Compact on Migration was in line with the position of Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer).

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Environment, László Sólymos (Most-Híd), supports the participation of the Slovak representative in the conference.

"I do not think the solution is that the SR stays out of the table." Putting your head in the sand for such a problem is a bad way. When we have reservations about the Covenant as a SR, we should express it in a way but certainly not, "This problem is global and the RS should be there," he said.

Marrakech is out of place

Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer) will do everything in his power to keep Miroslav Lajčák (Nmer Smer) as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Pellegrini said before the government meeting on Wednesday, which would be a shame if the Slovak government lost such a great diplomat and expert such as Lajčák.

The Prime Minister also confirmed that the Slovak Republic would not be bound by the UN Covenant.

According to Pellegrini, the question is whether one of the representatives of Slovakia goes to Marakeš to discuss this document, which is a technical issue.

"Whether anyone would like to go there or not something absolutely irrelevant to me, Slovakia will act in such a way that it gives no reason to think that it would want be part of this document, which would only be of a technical nature, "said Pellegrini. .

Pellegrini wants to keep Lajcak

Pellegrini reminded that Lajčák is a very good minister and an expert in the right place. According to him, it would be prejudicial if Lajčák had actually resigned.

"I will do everything to keep the minister, because Slovakia will preside over serious institutions, and I think that if my government lost such a great diplomat and such a good man, it would do a lot of harm, and I will try to convince the Minister to ensure that even though we have different views on certain things, he defends the interests of the state and national interests at the expense of his personal preferences, "said Mr. Pellegrini .

Lajčák has not changed the attitude

Lajčák confirmed to the government that his decision on the adoption of the migration pact and possible resignation had not changed. He added that he had no sense of rationality.

"I do not fight against anyone, but I want to be in agreement with my conscience.My decision has not changed," he said, asking Pellegrini to convince him.
