ATHENS, July 29 (SITA / AP) – Forest fires in the Athens area have killed at least 91 people. Local authorities also confirmed Sunday the disappearance of 25 people
. The vast majority of the victims died in the flames, some drowned in the sea when they escaped a fire that also damaged more than two thousand homes. Fourteen of them must be destroyed.
Two fires began to spread on Monday. One to the west of Athens near Kineta and the other near Rafina. With fire on both sides of the capital, in the beginning, more than 600 firefighters and all over Greece fought a firefighting plane and a helicopter.
Italy, Germany, Turkey, Cyprus, Spain and Israel. The government said Thursday that the fire was probably somebody deliberately. Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said Tuesday a three-day mourning.
