Frankfurt, July 15 (TASR) – The head of the German central bank, Jens Weidmann, has warned the Berlin government against the growing risks of slowing the economy. The economic newspaper Handelsblatt, in reference to government sources, said

According to these sources who did not want to be named, Weidmann was invited as a guest at a meeting from cabinet on July 6th.

Handelsblatt released a report after the central bank of the Bundesbank lowered its German economic growth forecast last month last year.

In June, the Bundesbank predicts the biggest European economy this year with growth of 2%, which is a noticeable deterioration compared to the expected growth of 2.5% of the economy

Weidmann also said that the government should intervene when the economy will decline because the European Central Bank will take a long time to normalize its monetary policy (after a massive stimulus program) to act
