Soft (JOB), a popular workplace communication platform, confirmed a service disruption for some users on Monday morning as many workers returned from vacation.
“Customers may be experiencing issues signing in to Slack for channel loading at this time,” the company said. “Our team is on the case and we’ll keep you posted.”
At 10:30 a.m. ET on Monday, Slack’s status page showed that its messaging and connections functionality was affected by a technical issue.
Slack services and the like have become even more essential tools for office workers to stay in touch with their colleagues after the pandemic forced countless businesses to switch to remote work almost overnight.
About an hour after recognizing the problem, Slack said it had “found where the problem was” and updated its status page to show a general failure.
As the incident continued, some users reported opting for alternatives, like LinkedIn, the Discord messaging app, or traditional communication channels like email.
