Smart Compose in Gmail can now suggest topics based on the content of the email.

Google can now automatically suggest items via email using Gmail's Smart Compose feature. The new feature has arrived on Gmail today, which brings us slightly closer to a future where we only use robots to replace our more mundane communications.

Smart Compose can already guess the next part of your sentences based on your writing habits, offering suggestions when you're about to ask someone to "come back next week" or by thanking at the end of an email. It relies on machine learning to formulate its recommendations, which, according to Google, "can reduce the effort required to write emails and responses."

After entering the body of your email, Smart Compose can suggest a subject for email based on its content. For example, Gmail might suggest the title "Happy Birthday!" To send an email to a friend about creating birthday plans.

Extended Smart Compose functionality is gradually extended to all Gmail users. Google says that uploading can take up to fifteen days. Smart Compose is enabled by default, but you can enable or disable it in Settings.
