Smash Ultimate's new "costume" event features an infernal Nintendo character

Party Phil for Smash

All the events of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate slaps, but this one highlights Party Phil, so it defaults.

If you have not heard of Party Phil, there is a good reason for that: he was somehow sent to die Wii Party series (with Party Penny), which never really took off. This Ray Bolger Scarecrow-ass puppet is always ready to go and his goal in life is just to inflate you and make you have a good time. Who does not like a cheerful puppet who speaks gibberish? This guy should be much more famous.

So, why is it relevant? well Ultimate Smashis "Suit Up!" "Spirit" event begins on May 17th and features cool characters Metal Gear SolidKaz Miller, Crossing of animalsDigby and, of course, Party Phil. Or, as Nintendo puts it: "Spirits wearing ties or bow ties bring a touch of class to the spiritual advice of this event, beat them in combat to gain extra snacks."
