Nick Kingham had no answer for Arizona and the DBacks have won their fifth victory in as many tries against the Bucs this season in a 9-3 decision.

The Pirates spotted Kingham (1-1) a pair of points before taking the mound in first base, but Arizona would score in each of his four innings. He finished by awarding seven points on 10 strokes, walking one and scoring a pair.

Eduardo Escobar was a white thorn at Kingham, tripling the pair by the second and making the last quarter. He doubled the cycle on Monday.

Robbie Ray (3-1) was calmed after these two innings first, but could only go five frames. He withdrew half a dozen.

The Pirates had the chance to return to the seventh after three straight singles at the start of the round, but Jimmie Sherfy beat Melky Cabrera, Josh Bell and Bryan Reynolds successively to escape.

Bell extended his strike streak to 13 with a single RBI in the first inning. He also walked in the fifth and still distinguished in the ninth. Starling Marte had three successes, including a triple.

Rookie reliever Montana DuRapau hit two in his only run.
