Snapchat responded on Monday after OWN TV host’s son, Dr.
“Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Samuel Berman Chapman and we are saddened by his passing,” a company spokesperson said in a statement. “We are committed to working with law enforcement in this and all cases where Snapchat is used for illegal purposes. We have zero tolerance for using Snapchat to buy or sell illegal drugs.”
The spokesperson said the company is “constantly improving” its capabilities to detect drug-related activity.

Berman first shared the news of his son’s death on Instagram on Sunday, writing about how he overdosed in his family room. Berman added that he had the drugs delivered to the house during an “experiment that had gone wrong.”
In an interview with NBC Nightly News on Monday night, Berman said she went to his bedroom, and “he was on the floor. Gone.”
“My beautiful boy is gone. 16 years old. Take shelter at home,” she wrote on Instagram, with a photo of her and her son kissing. “My heart is completely broken and I don’t know how to keep breathing. I am posting this now only so that no more children die.
She said a drug dealer hooked up with her son on the app and may have given him Xanax mixed with fentanyl, a synthetic opioid pain reliever, according to Fox 11 of Los Angeles.
Berman warned other parents to “watch your children and to WATCH SNAPCHAT in particular”.

“A drug dealer connected with him on Snapchat and gave him fentinyl [sic] laced up Xanax or Percocet (toxicology will tell) and he overdosed in his room. They do it because it makes people bigger and better for business, but it overdoses and the kids don’t know what they’re taking, ”she wrote on Instagram.
Bill Bodner, the special agent in charge of the DEA in Los Angeles, told Fox 11 that what happened to Sammy was happening to other children across the United States.
He said the counterfeit pills being disseminated on social media are designed to look like the real Xanax or other types of drugs, but are usually fentanyl – which can be deadly.
“This is something that is made in a dirty clandestine laboratory in Mexico. There is no quality control. The dosage is extremely inconsistent. It only takes 2.5 mg of fentanyl to kill you,” he said. Bodner at the station.
Berman said her son, whom she calls Sammy, was a “straight student” and was preparing for college. She added that her son wanted her to call him Sam as he was getting older.
