Volunteer Terry Lauerman became a viral sensation after a pet shelter shared photos showing the elderly napping snuggling with many shelter cats.
"I've always loved cats and I've always had cats when I was a kid, and I loved them," he said. "In many ways, I see my old cats in these cats here."
The Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary's Facebook post on Lauerman has spurred more than 40,000 reactions and 11,000 shares since Tuesday afternoon – and these numbers continue to climb. The post was also aired on social news sites such as Reddit and BuzzFeed, and was covered Thursday by "Good Morning America".
