Winter storm warning for North and West Pocahontas County as early as 6 am Sunday and expiring at 4 am on Monday morning.

Winter weather advisory for South and East Pocahontas and Greenbrier counties beginning at 6 am Sunday and expiring at 7 am Monday morning.

The main things tonight will be that cloud cover will increase on us around midnight tonight. Temperatures tonight will be in the lowest 30 degrees with a westerly wind of 5 to 8 mph.

The rain begins to approach our region before dawn. Most of us will only have light showers on Sunday morning and afternoon, with the exception of areas north of I-64 in Greenbrier and Pocahontas counties. It is likely that these areas will see snow and freezing rain to get the day off to a good start. At dinner time, we can begin to feel flurries. Heavier snow bands seem to be making their way into the evening. The snow showers will persist all night but will weaken all night. By getting up on Monday morning, some of us can still see some light snow or snow flurries blowing around but we will dry things up quickly and we will have partly cloudy conditions.

** Quantity of snow: **

Most of the snow will be seen north of I-64.

Pocahontas County: 5-8 inches.

West Greenbrier County and North Fayette County: 3-5 inches.

Counties of Buchanan, McDowell, Wyoming, South Fayette, Tazewell, Raleigh, Western Mercer & Summers: 2-4 inches.

Giles, Bland, Wythe, Mercer and Monroe Counties: Trace at 1 inch.

Next week temperatures will be well below average. Behind the cold front that crosses us on Sunday, there will be a wave of Arctic air. We will be frigid! Our temperatures will not be above the freezing point on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, as the peaks will reach 30 and 20 years. Our stockings will be in adolescence, but we will be dry for most of our week.
