Cancellations at McCarran Airport

Around McCarran International Airport on Thursday, you spent a lot of time sitting watching the dashboards.

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) – Around McCarran International Airport on Thursday, there was a lot of sitting, standing and looking at the dashboards.

"All my outfits are low and dressed, I mean, it does not matter," said Kelly Honos. She came to Las Vegas to celebrate her 25th birthday.

"When I got off the plane, I saw all these people standing around me and I thought," What is going on? It can not be because of the snow. "

Honos comes from Michigan and said she did not understand what it was about.

"My friend said that his plane was delayed by four hours and I wondered" Why ?! "She said.

The friend of Honos is that one of the hundreds of people stuck. Winter conditions resulted in dozens of delays and cancellations.

Josh Kelch is another. He said that he had been waiting for seven hours of delayed friends at the airport. Kelch came to town for a bachelor party.

"Eleven people arriving today have seen their flights canceled twice," he said.

For the lucky ones whose flights were not affected, they were baffled. Most said they are heading to Vegas to escape the snow.

"When I woke up for a winter weather warning, I was very upset," said Amanda Yetter. "I took the plane here thinking that it would be hot!"

Some travelers made fun of the city's lack of snow expertise, but most were understanding.

"You're in the desert, I understand," Kelch joked.

McCarran Airport urges passengers to check their flights before traveling to the airport.
