Soap box: Defense of the grounding of death

Death Stranding PS4 PlayStation 4 1

I really understand, you know? No, not the plot of Death Stranding – I am as confused as the rest of you by its pseudo-philosophical mumbo jumbo. I'm talking about the skepticism. Hideo Kojima is tired, Hideo Kojima, and you want the author to be put on a lead. Maybe not a leash of the Konami brand, but a leash all the same.

No, listen, I understand the concerns, because deep inside me, I start to wonder if the next exclusive PlayStation 4 will be for me too. It seems to be a sort of messaging simulation, in which you deliver parcels as a factor factor, backpack, which just has a child attached to his chest.

But I'm not 100% sure that this is what the game is going to be, and here is an idea that I want to offer: is not it refreshing not to know? Let me introduce another highly anticipated title for 2019: Borderlands 3. Gearbox has shown a lot of this game since its announcement and do you know what it looks like: Bloody Borderlands 3.

Now, there are a lot of Borderlands fans, and I'm not casting a shadow on Randy Pitchford's management – he's tired of Jim Sterling and ResetEra. The fact is that I knew exactly what to expect from Borderlands 3 right from the announcement of his ad and that hours of play have recently turned my mind upside down. It's Borderlands 3.

And it's great if you want more Borderlands, but most AAA titles are not like that these days? I'm one of the few fans of Days Gone, but it's an open world game, designed by numbers, that contains a handful of ideas that he can claim to be his. The next Call of Duty: Modern Warfare may be in a darker direction, but I've always played it before.

Death Stranding is therefore a rare example of a mast tent title that I am still guessing three months before its release. It may be hogwash, but are not we criticizing this industry enough to reject the same ideas every 12 months on our gulls? Should not we be celebrating something out of the ordinary – a game that seems to thwart all the tendencies of the book?

I understand that you want Sony and Kojima Productions to sell you the game, but no one requires you to buy it at launch. You will find all the information you need online at the time of publication of the title, and I promise you that the mystery will eventually disappear. there will be game guides, live streams and YouTube videos – the title will be wide open in a few days.

But for the moment, should not we just embrace the unknown? It's so, so rare for an outing of this caliber to try something really different, and keep a degree of secrecy until it starts. Look, it could be awful – a pretentious and polite shit that will deserve its 3/10. So be it: you can not complain about a lack of creativity in this area while simultaneously criticizing something that dares to be different.
