Solange canceled her performances at Coachella because of "significant delays in production," the festival announced Sunday night.
"Due to significant delays in production, Solange will unfortunately not be at this year's festival," the statement said. "She offers her sincere apologies and looks forward to performing at Coachella in the future." The festival will take place next weekends and April 19-21 in Indio, California. Childish Gambino, Tame Impala and Ariana Grande are the headliners. Other artists include Kanye West (who will perform a special service on Easter Sunday), Janelle Monae, Khalid, Zedd, Weezer, Balvin J., Billie Eilish and many others.
At the time of going to press, Solange had commented on the cancellation on any of its social platforms.
While production issues are often cited as a cause of concert cancellations that is actually due to other reasons, in the case of Solange, this seems to be a probable cause: concerts around her latest album, "A Seat at the Table", in 2016, featured many dancers and production – especially a special pair of performances at the Guggenheim Museum in New York in 2017, which involved 100 performers and took over the most much of the interior of the building – and while she has not yet arranged in concert to support her new album "When I Get Home," which was released early last month, this will probably involve a complex staging.
West has pulled out of its performances at the headliner at this year's Coachella Festival the day before the programming announcement.
