Soleil Moon Frye says three of her four children are battling the coronavirus.

The 44-year-old actress took to Instagram on Sunday with a message for parents to get their children tested for the virus if they have symptoms.

The former Punky Brewster, who has four children with her ex-husband Jason Goldberg – her daughters Poet, 15, and Jagger, 13; and her sons Lyric, seven, and Story, five – shared on the social media site how she learned about the health crisis in her family.

“I thought my son had a cold or a fever, I didn’t know he had Covid 19,” she said. “With the encouragement of our doctor, I had it tested. He tested positive. I was on my way for a work trip, I rushed home and two of my other kids tested positive as well.

Frye said she is emotional in the midst of difficult times as she strives to be a supportive parent and “tried to smile through the fear and feed them.”

“I want to protect my babies, love them, make them all better, eliminate the burning fever and stomach aches,” she said. “I shed a lot of tears.

Frye said she didn’t know where her “three kids got this from,” adding that “part of the mystery in all of this is how often it is difficult to trace and how easy it is to spread”.

Frye said her family’s illnesses had “done her a lot”, adding that “more than anything it showed how grateful I am for our health and well-being.”

“I know how incredibly lucky we are. My children were able to heal together and support each other, we have a doctor we trust and hospitals nearby. We are able to lean on each other.

Frye said she had “the deepest respect for all frontline caregivers, doctors, health workers and volunteers,” as well as “single parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends and extended families who get together and jump when needed.

Frye said her family’s illnesses had “turned her up a lot” and that she was grateful to have a strong support system in place.

She also credited CORE, a nonprofit organization founded by Sean Penn with a focus on COVID-19 testing and vaccinations.

“Thank you for teaching me safety rather than fear,” she said. “I have more love in my heart than ever for the angels around me.”

Frye, who announced her separation from Goldberg last December after a 22-year marriage, has received words of support from many friends amid this difficult time.

Her Punky Brewster co-star Cherie Johnson posted a tearful emoji, adding, “My prayers are in place!”

Actress Constance Zimmer replied, “Oh Sun !!! Stay safe and healthy !! kisses kisses’

Entertainment Tonight host Nischelle Turner wrote, “I’m sorry you’re going through this and hoping for a speedy recovery for your beautiful family!”
