Since the AirPods Max headphones were released on December 15, there have been an increasing number of complaints of MacRumors drives that have encountered a condensation problem.

Some AirPods Max owners who have worn their headphones for an extended period of time have noticed condensation forming inside the ear cup. Of MacRumors ssong player:
So I have my AirPods max for just under a week and noticed that after prolonged use there was a decent amount of condensation inside the ear cup.

Condensation seems to happen regardless of temperature, and most people have reported seeing it after several hours of use, but for some, it does appear within an hour or two. One user claimed that the condensation led to issues with active noise cancellation, but this was not echoed by other AirPods Max owners and no one else reported issues caused by the condensation.
Other owners of AirPods Max have said the same issue has occurred with headphones from other brands. Of MacRumors JBGoode reader:

The “AirPods Max” are not water resistant and those affected by condensation worry about the longevity of the earphones with the water droplets collecting inside. The ear pads are unaffected and remain dry despite condensation inside the ear cups.
Some owners of AirPods Max returned the headphones, while others chose AppleCare + for future issues. Apple has yet to comment on the issue.
