A limited amount of two Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavors have been recalled as products may contain nuts not listed in their ingredient or allergy lists.

Voluntary recall has implications for choice of Chunky Monkey pints and some bulk containers of Coconut Seven Layer Bar, Ben & Jerry's parent company Unilever said Monday in a statement issued by the US Food and Drug Administration. Drug Administration.

The products may contain nuts such as almonds, Brazil nuts and hazelnuts, according to the company. The product labels have warnings stating "Contains nuts" and "May contain other nuts," says a statement.

"People who are allergic or extremely sensitive to these undeclared nuts are at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled products," the statement said.

The Chunky Monkey pints involved have a consumer UPC number of 076840100354. The expiry dates for the products are AUG2820BH2, AUG2920BH2 or AUG3020BH2.

Ben & Jerry's Seven & Layer Coconut Seven bar is sold in a 2.4 gallon tank and has a consumer UPC of 076840104246. The affected products have an expiry date of 1515 SEB4.

The problem is due to an error with one of Ben & Jerry's nut suppliers and has been resolved, the statement said. The problem was discovered during the manufacture of the products.
