Some Pixel users report dead sensors after the Android 10 update

Some Google Pixel 3 XL users report problems with Android 10.

The Google Pixel series is renowned for getting Android updates before virtually every other device, but it seems that some Pixel users are reporting a major problem after updating to Android 10.

Several Pixel users have reported dead sensors on the Google Issue Tracker, the XDA forum and the Pixel Phone help forum. Functions include Active Edge functionality, auto rotation, auto brightness, double-waking to wake and wake-up.

Users report the problem on the Pixel 3 XL, but at least one user reported the problem on his first-generation Google Pixel.

"When I make a phone call, the screen darkens and it's not enough to just slide your finger on the power button or squeeze it to turn it back on. If the call is directed to voicemail, you can see the keypad to answer the prompts, "reads an excerpt from the Pixel user's complaint.

The problem seems to affect devices, whether users are updated via OTA or flashed on Android 10. This suggests that the problem may not be related to a specific installation process.

According to the users concerned, the decommissioning Android Pie is one of the few ways to get the sensors back into service. The problem does not seem to be prevalent at the moment, but you may want to wait for the update until Google publishes an answer to the problem.
