Some Samsung Galaxy S20 screens are already crashing after just a year

The Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, and S20 Ultra were three of the best Android phones of 2020 and remain great options to consider if you don’t want to spend over $ 700 on a new Samsung flagship. Unfortunately, it looks like some Galaxy S20 series phone owners are having a serious display issue that makes them essentially useless (via Android Police).

According to complaints from affected users on Samsung’s Community Forum, Reddit, and YouTube, the issue causes the entire screen to turn green or white. Most of them say they started noticing flickering issues a few days before their screens started turning green or white. They also claim that their phones were not damaged in any way, so the reason for the problem is unclear.

Although a moderator on the Samsung Community Forum suggested that affected users start their devices in Safe Mode to resolve the issue, that doesn’t seem to help at all. A factory reset doesn’t make any difference either. If the issue is caused by a software bug, Samsung will likely release an update with a fix for Galaxy S20 series phones in the near future.

Fortunately, the problem doesn’t seem to be as widespread as the touchscreen issues that plagued the Galaxy S20 FE when it first launched. Samsung had to roll out several software updates to fix ghost keys and poor responsiveness. Some Galaxy S20 Ultra units were also affected by a green tint issue last year, but the issue was quickly fixed with an update. Similar issues have also been reported by the owners of OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro.

Android Central has contacted Samsung for comment and will update the story if the company responds.
