Sonequa Martin-Green is negotiating to join LeBron James in Warner Bros. '"Space Jam 2", sources say Variety.

Terence Nance, creator of HBO's "Random Acts of Flyness," directs the untitled sequel, with "Black Panther" director Ryan Coogler, producing with James and his partner Maverick Carter (under their SpringHill banner) Entertainment).

According to sources, Martin-Green will embody James' wife in the photo, which will be released in theaters on July 16, 2021.

Rumors of a "Space Jam" follow-up appeared for the first time in 2015 when James and SpringHill signed a content creation agreement with Warner Bros. Production will begin this summer during James' NBA season.

In the original, Michael Jordan teamed up with Looney Tunes characters to confront a group of animated aliens on the pitch. The sum of 1996 amounted to $ 230 million worldwide and, in addition to Jordan, featured some of the biggest stars of the NBA, including Larry Bird, Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing. The new movie finds Bugs Bunny and Looney Tunes joining forces with James in the field to confront an unknown entity.

Martin-Green, who has become a fan favorite in AMC's "Walking Dead," is currently featured in CBS All Access's hit series, Star Trek: Discovery.
