Sonos will add a Google Assistant for some speakers next week – Droid Life

His bone says he's finally ready, after two years, to add Google Assistant to some of his upscale connected speakers. Starting next week, Sonos One and Sonos Beam will both receive an update that adds Google Assistant support.

Sonos announced this news in a letter to shareholders published just before the company's quarterly earnings call. A software upgrade including Google Assistant will apply to One and Beam companies in the United States. Other markets will see a similar update in the "coming months".

Once the update is available on your Sonos devices, you can choose between Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, a first according to Sonos. Beam and One should then act as a Google Home product when you shout "Hey Google!".

Do not have Sonos One or Beam? In January, Google gave the impression that they had the means to bring the Assistant to the old Sonos devices, although we do not know how that would be possible. Sonos did not mention the older devices in this letter.

Once this update is complete, we will try to let you know!
