Sony automatically replaces PSN credentials that it deems offensive

When Sony finally authorized changes to PSN Online ID, it indicated that you could return to your old identifier as long as it would not "violate the terms of use." But what happens if your current name breaks the rules? We now know what will happen. If you choose an identifier that Sony deems offensive, such as an abusive or bigoted language, it automatically assigns you a temporary alias ("TempXXXX", where Xs are numbers) and asks you to choose a more civil name. Although this sounds harsh, it's much sweeter than what Sony was doing before name changes were an option – it would outright ban people who choose offensive names.
