HDCU-5500 is a new half-rack camera control unit (CCU) used with HDC-5500. This CCU provides both 12G-SDI 4K output interface and IP interfaces, SMPTE ST 2110 and NMOS IS-04/05 hardware option *. The combination of the HDC-5500 and HDCU-5500 is connected by a single fiber optic cable without a baseband processing unit. This pair also offers a UHB (Ultra High Bitrate) transmission that transmits 2 channels of 4K signals at a time.

HDC-5500 camera system
The HDC-5500 produces an output 4K signal directly from its 12G-SDI output. By installing a wireless side panel option, HKC-WL50, the HDC-5500 can be used as a wireless camera or with a camera stabilizer.

Using a newly developed signal processing technology between the camera and the CCU, the Ultra High Bitrate (UHB) transmission enables the simultaneous transmission of two camera signals over a single fiber optic cable, increasing the operational flexibility of the camera system. the 4K The TRUNK function effectively transmits two HDC-5500 sources to the CCU; a source of "host" HDC-5500 itself and a second camera connected to the 12G-SDI input of the HDC-5500. In addition, 4K PROMPTER is transmitted from the HDCU-5500 to the camera head also using the UHB transmission.

The HDC-5500 can use an interchangeable side panel that can provide backward compatibility with current HD camera control units such as the HDCU-2500/3100 Series.

"The HDC-5500 offers advanced flexibility for live production," said Theresa Alesso, President of the Pro Division of Sony Electronics. "We have listened carefully to the requirements of this fast-moving market and have provided new capabilities for today's 3G systems and tomorrow's requirements for IP and HDR." We responded elegantly to the production needs. such as 4K, HDR, HFR, IP, digital triax and wireless. We provide our customers with a flexible and cost-effective way to upgrade their current systems to a very special set of tools. We are also continuing to improve our HDC series so that our customers can achieve even higher levels of creativity and efficiency. "

Portable license
Sony will also introduce a portable licensing option for HDC-5500 and HDC-P50 POV cameras. Portable licenses are not tied to a specific device, such as a permanent license. Portable licenses can be dynamically transferred between HDC-5500 and / or HDC-P50 cameras. Customers such as OB and rental companies can realize cost and logistics savings because software features can be downloaded and installed on site, instead of sending camera components. Portable licenses will be available as an annual subscription.

* Portable license: HZC-UHD50P for 4K output and HZC-HFR50P for high scrolling speed, both should be available in May

Sony also introduces HDCU-3500, a CCU half-rack camera used with HDC-3500, HDC-3100 and also compatible with the HDC-2000 series. It has a 12G-SDI 4K output interface and IP interfaces, SMPTE ST 2110 and NMOS IS-04/05 hardware option *.

* HZCU-UHD35 for 12G-SDI 4K interface and HKCU-SFP50 interface for IP, both devices should be available in May

The new CCU HDCU-3500 and HDCU-5500 control units should have an optional built-in recording function that uses a built-in memory function *. This innovative recording option will offer new options and greater flexibility for the live workflow.

* The time of the release must be announced.

The HDC-5500, HDCU-5500 and HDCU-3500 should be available in May. Visit the Sony C11001 booth to watch the brand new camera system. For more information, visit pro.sony.
