We arrive in high season for high pressure presentations in cavernous sites with small pieces of circuits enclosed in glass, metal and plastic. IFA 2019 is pretty much underway in Berlin and high-tech companies are rehearsing for the right words, notes, photos and switches. Unfortunately for Sony, someone in the control room reversed the wrong switch and briefly revealed the existence of the company's next big smartphone, the Xperia 5.

Sony has actually released some of what appears to be a trial version of its main presentation – scheduled for tomorrow noon (CET) – earlier today. Xperia Sony Europe YouTube channel. Unfortunately for the company, some viewers have watched the show a little before it's closed and erased from the story. Two of them even managed to take a picture of the big phone of tomorrow: the Xperia 5.

So it seems that the Xperia 2 that we thought would follow would be a Xperia 1 become a "5". It makes sense. Totally.

For redundancy (and for readers looking to return to this article and one or two details while holding Ctrl + F / Cmd + F), the Xperia 5 features a 21: 9 HDR compatible OLED display with Dolby sound Atmos. It will support DualShock 4 for a richer haptic experience when used for PlayStation games. Preorders in Europe are expected to begin next week with deliveries starting in October.

Sony usually accompanies the flagship products of a mid-range version. He opted for the name "Xperia 10" last time. Which number will come next? We will have to educate ourselves tomorrow.
