  • A leak seems to have revealed the Sony Xperia 10 III.
  • It should retain a familiar design, including the headphone jack and front stereo speakers.
  • You might hear more of it on the phone in the coming weeks.

Sometimes it’s what a business doesn’t change about a phone that can be the most exciting. Steve Hemmerstoffer (aka OnLeaks) shared what he says are pictures and details of the Sony Xperia 10 III, a subtle evolution of the 10 II that retains features that seem to die on flagship devices.

Most notably, the Xperia 10 III would keep the 3.5mm headphone jack and front stereo speakers – Sony might not make you ditch your favorite headphones or require you to hold your phone carefully while watching a video. While it’s true that Sony also relaunched the take for last year’s Xperia 1 II, people are unlikely to complain about more options.

You can also expect the 6-inch 21: 9 screen to return, with no punches or notches in sight. Details are not available for the triple rear camera setup, but rumors suggest the Xperia 10 III will have a 12MP main camera as well as 8MP telephoto lenses and ultra-wide sensors. So it won’t compete with mid-range devices in some areas (a device like the OnePlus Nord has a higher resolution camera), but the continued existence of a telephoto lens could give it an advantage.

Sony should also preserve the side-mounted fingerprint reader and stick to a familiar aesthetic. Although internal specs weren’t available, the Xperia 10 II used a Snapdragon 665. We would expect the Xperia 10 III to offer similar processing power, although it’s not certain that Sony will jump to the Snapdragon. 690 and its integrated 5G.

If history is any indication, Sony could launch the Xperia 10 III in February. It won’t be a radical departure for the company, but it could stand out in an area where competitors are cutting back on features that customers once took for granted.
