Sony’s PS5 redesign is much lighter, but is it any different?

If you’ve managed to get close to a PS5 over the past few months (which is no small feat considering the popularity of the console), you’ll know it’s huge. Very large. Since the machine’s launch last year, its gargantuan size has been the subject of countless mocking memes. But a slightly slimmer PlayStation 5 might already be on the way.

As spotted by a Twitter user (below), modified PS5 manuals appear to confirm a new “digital edition” model, which is 300g lighter than the standard version. It’s unclear exactly how this weight loss will be achieved, but the arrival of a new model could be good news for anyone who hasn’t managed to get one yet (here’s where to buy a PS5 though. you want to try your luck).
