Typically, when a business makes such a statement, it publishes a benchmark, performance test, or actual details of what it is basing that marketing claim on. This is to prevent lawyers from launching out of missile silos across the world.
Apple’s website reiterates this claim, stating: “M1 is faster than chips in 98% of laptops sold last year.” The site also includes a detailed memo which states: “Testing conducted by Apple in October 2020 on preproduction 13-inch MacBook Pro systems with Apple M1 chip and 16 GB of RAM. Performance measured using certain industry standard benchmarks. PC configurations based on publicly available sales data over the past 12 months. Performance tests are performed on specific computer systems and reflect approximate performance of the MacBook Pro. “

And on what is this claim of “performance” based? Processor performance? GPU performance? Performance under Windows? Is it using the same app on both platforms? Is it experiential? Now, if you like Macs and everything Apple has to offer, you should definitely consider newer Macs over older Intel-based Macs. I say this because I’m pretty sure buying an Intel-based Mac is like buying a ticket to stand on a desert island so you can say hello to Apple as it flies away in a party boat.
So, have some Apple dignity, and stop trolling just to grab attention and hopefully influence the 93 out of 100 people who prefer to buy Windows laptops over MacOS laptops every year.
