TAMPA, Fla .– Immediately after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9 in Super Bowl LV on Sunday, Bucs quarterback Tom Brady sent an apology to Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu for several verbal altercations on the ground, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Brady apologized to Mathieu for losing his temper in the heat of the moment, of which Mathieu said: “I never really saw that side of him”.
During the match, Brady and Mathieu faced each other several times. At one point, Brady even chased after him and faced off.
Brady called Mathieu the “ultimate contender” in his apology and said he knew he had to match Mathieu’s intensity on Sunday.
Brady told Mathieu he had watched him since his days at LSU, and he praised Mathieu for his heart, calling him “an incredible leader, champion and act of class.”
Brady has also expressed his desire to apologize in person in the future. He said his outbursts in a moment of emotion in no way reflected his feelings for Mathieu, whom he talked about a lot throughout the week leading up to the game.
Mathieu explained his side of the altercation, saying in a deleted tweet since Brady started the verbal spit when he called Mathieu “something I won’t repeat”.
“He’s clearly chasing me, but I’ve been flagged,” Mathieu said in another deleted tweet.
