According to sources close to the investigation, coach Jim Boeheim hit and killed a person who got out of his car after another accident occurred Wednesday night on I-690 near Thompson Road in Syracuse.

The accident occurred just before 11:30 pm Wednesday on the I-690 heading east just before the Thompson Road exit.

Investigators say two cars were involved in an accident and the passengers got out of their vehicles. Boeheim, who was driving on 690, hit and killed one of the people who had left their car after the first accident.

Sources told us that the man's car was partially in the 690 traffic lane when he exited the vehicle.

According to sources, Boeheim reportedly called 911 and cooperated fully with the investigators. They tell us that "it seems like a tragedy".

I-690 was arrested at South Midler Ave. for several hours while the crews were investigating the accident.

We solicited comments from the Syracuse University leadership and did not hear anything.
