Antonio Brown has refused to sign a deal of more than $ 2 million with Britney Taylor to settle a sexual assault allegation made by the former broad receiver coach, sources said Jeff Darlington said on Wednesday. ; ESPN.
Brown had a deadline late Sunday night to sign the settlement agreement before Taylor's lawyers would seek to sue him. After Brown did not sign the settlement, the complaint was filed on Tuesday.
Settlement discussions began in April and included two mediations, including one in May, Darlington told sources close to the talks.
Brown's decision not to sign the settlement comes about the same time he signed an agreement with the New England Patriots, which his agent revealed on Sept. 7 and made official on Monday.
In the lawsuit filed in the South Florida District, Taylor accuses Brown of having sexually assaulted her three times in 2017 and 2018.
The NFL is scheduled to meet Taylor on Monday as part of its investigation, a source told ESPN.
A source told ESPN's Josina Anderson that Taylor had provided information to the league before the meeting. The source said they were not told that Brown or one of his representatives would attend this meeting and did not expect them to be.
ESPN previously said that the NFL and Taylor should meet over the coming week. The NFL network announced Sunday that the meeting would take place on Monday.
Brown traveled with the Patriots in Miami before Sunday's game against the Dolphins, a source told ESPN's Mike Reiss on Saturday, and is expected to debut in the season. Sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN on Friday that Brown had not been placed on the list of exempt persons of the Commissioner, as there was no criminal investigation into the recipient large.
Brown's lawyer, Darren Heitner, said Tuesday in a statement that his client and Taylor were involved in a "personal consensual relationship".
