Sources – Dunleavy in Tulane after 4-27 years

Tulane has separated from Mike Dunleavy Sr after three seasons, sources told ESPN.

An official announcement is expected Saturday.

Dunleavy, 64, was hired in 2016 after the green wave unleashed Ed Conroy. This is the first time that Dunleavy embarked on university training after spending all of his coaching career in the NBA. Before taking office at Tulane, Dunleavy had not coached since 2010 with the Los Angeles Clippers. He had already made stops with the Portland Trail Blazers, Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers.

Tulane played 6-25 in the first season of Dunleavy, but has risen sharply to 14-17 last season. The green wave started 13-8 before fighting towards the end of the campaign. This season, Tulane finished 4-27 and was without a win in AAC.

Dunleavy is the father of Baker Dunleavy, head coach of Quinnipiac, and Mike Dunleavy Jr., a former NBA veteran.

Andy Kennedy, former head coach of Ole Miss, is a potential replacement candidate, sources told ESPN.

The Times-Picayune first announced the news of Dunleavy's dismissal.
