Free Agent Guard Kris Dunn has struck a two-year, $ 10 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The deal includes a second-year player option, sources say.
Dunn joins the Hawks after the Chicago Bulls failed to make a qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Drafted fifth in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Dunn, 26, was shipped to Chicago a year later as part of the Jimmy Butler trade. After a few promising seasons with the Bulls, Dunn saw his minutes cut significantly last year to make room for rookie point guard Coby White in the rotation.
A defensive specialist, Dunn led the league in stealing percentage last season. Opponents’ possessions ended in a steal 3.8 percent of the time when Dunn was on the pitch, with the point guard posting 2 per game in 24.9 minutes of action.
The offense, however, was a struggle for Dunn. He shot just under 26% from 3 last season after advancing steadily in this area the previous two seasons. He was also much less efficient as a passer, averaging 3.4 assists after racking up 6 per game in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
