The Oklahoma City Thunder has agreed to trade Russell Westbrook against the Houston Rockets against Chris Paul, a first-round pick in 2024 and 2026, and swap swap in 2021 and 2025, ESPN told important sources.

Oklahoma City's general manager, Sam Presti, worked with Westbrook and his agent, Thad Foucher, to deliver the former MVP to his favorite destination: a meeting with James Harden, sources said.

The Thunder played in the playoffs of each of the three seasons of Westbrook and Harden, moving from base seed 8 in 2009-10 to fourth place in 2010-11 in second place in 2011-12. They reached the NBA Finals in their last season by losing five times against the Miami Heat.

The Thunder is playing a long game without precedent in recent NBA history, adding eight first-round selections in 2026 – plus four permutations of selections – via Westbrook's trades, Paul George and Jerami Grant.
