The mayor of a town in South Carolina knew exactly who to call when a COVID-19 drive-thru vaccination site was backed up – the director of a local Chick-fil-A.
A computer glitch on Friday caused a backup at a vaccination clinic in Mount Pleasant, leaving people stuck waiting an hour, reports KLUV. In a stroke of genius, Mount Pleasant Mayor Will Haynie reached out to Jerry Walkowiak, a manager of a local Chick-fil-A, to ask for his help in reorganizing.

Haynie took on the assignment and made things happen in no time, according to WSB-TV.
In a short clip the mayor shared on Twitter, Walkowiak stood in the rain with an umbrella, waving a car forward.
“Do you still have your papers?” He will help you on the spot, ”said the manager, directing the vehicle to another worker. Images of the good deed have gone viral, racking up more than 13,000 views since they hit the internet on January 22.
A spokesperson for Chick-fil-A Inc. told Fox News that the vaccination site is across from the Mount Pleasant restaurant.

When contacted for comment, a spokesperson for Chick-fil-A Inc. told Fox News that the vaccination site was located directly across from the restaurant.

As of Monday morning, South Carolina had reported more than 418,000 cases of coronavirus among residents, with more than 6,500 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
