Even the governor of South Dakota is grazing Corey Lewandowski.
Gov. spokesman Kristi Noem said Thursday that Lewandowski – who was fired the day before as the head of a super PAC supporting Donald Trump after allegations of donor sexual harassment – will no longer advise Noem.
Noem’s coldness towards Lewandowski came a day after she denied, on her personal and official Twitter accounts, a report that she had had an extramarital affair with the controversial political agent.
“Corey has always been a volunteer, never paid a dime (campaign or civil servant). He will not advise the governor on campaign or official office,” said Noem’s communications director Ian Fury , in an email.
A law firm representing Lewandowski did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Lewandowski had been acting for months as an advisor to Noem, a Republican who has been mentioned as a possible 2024 presidential candidate.
But on Wednesday, Lewandowski was hit by two explosive items.
One, on the conservative American Greatness news site, cited sources in a report that the former Trump campaign manager in 2016 had an affair with Noem, who, like Lewandowski, is married and has children, “for months”.
Noem responded to this claim on Twitter, writing: “These rumors are total garbage and a disgusting lie. These tired old attacks on conservative women are based on a lie that we can’t accomplish anything without the help of a man.”
“I love Bryon,” Noem wrote, referring to her husband. “I’m proud of the God-fearing family we raised together. Now I’m back to work.”
On the same day, Politico reported that a married donor to the Trump Political Action Committee led by Lewandowski accused him of “making unwanted sexual advances towards her at a charity event in Las Vegas” on last weekend, including touching and talking to her repeatedly. “in sexually graphic terms.”
Noem would have been at the same event.
Lewandowski “repeatedly touched me inappropriately, said vile and disgusting things to me, harassed me and made me feel violated and fearful,” the accuser, Trashelle Odom, said in a statement. statement to Politico.
Two Las Vegas attorneys for Lewandowski, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, said in a statement on this report: “The accusations and rumors seem to be turning by the minute, and we won’t honor them with another response.”
But on Wednesday evening, Taylor Budowich, a spokesperson for Trump, said Lewandowski was leaving as the head of the Make America Great Again Action PAC, replaced by former Florida attorney general Pam Bondi.
