Oh my God! They… will release 14 new ones South Park movie theater !

MTV Entertainment Studios inked South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone to a new deal that will run until 2027, including 14 new films made exclusively for Paramount +, two per year, starting this year. He will also see the flagship South Park series renewed until season 30 (2022 will see the show launch its 25th season). The deal is worth $ 900 million.

According to head of entertainment Chris McCarthy, the company is also working with Parker and Stone on new original content. “Franchise brand content such as South Park and developing new intellectual property with formidable talents like Matt and Trey, is at the heart of our strategy to continue to develop Paramount +, ”McCarthy said in a statement.

The news broke Thursday morning as ViacomCBS released its second quarter earnings report.

The new movies will air exclusively on Paramount +, a move that may upset some fans as the entire library of the Comedy Central show is on HBO Max, just like the 1999 film, South Park: bigger, longer & Uncut. New movies seem like a way to get South Park programming on ViacomCBS’s own streaming service after closing the HBO Max deal in 2019.

A source tells the Hollywood Journalist that Parker and Stone see the first two films as one big story split in two.

For the most part, the long-running cartoon created by Parker and Stone was cut short due to the pandemic, but the duo managed to create a pair of hour-long promotions during that time.

“Comedy Central has been our home for 25 years and we’re really happy that they’ve made a commitment to us for the next 75 years,” Parker and Stone said in a statement. “When we came to ViacomCBS with a different way of producing the show during the pandemic, Chris (McCarthy), Nina (Diaz), Keyes (Hill-Edgar) and Tanya (Giles) immediately supported us and allowed us to ‘try something new that turned out to be really well received. We can’t wait to go back to the traditional South Park episodes but now we can also try new formats. It’s great to have partners who will always try their luck with us.

Parker and Stone also recently made headlines when they announced that they were trying to buy Casa Bonita, the restaurant in Lakewood, Colorado, which was featured on their show in a classic episode. “We are absolutely trying to buy it,” Parker said. “We’re going to do whatever we can. We want to do it right and make it amazing.

South Park premiered on Comedy Central on August 13, 1997.
